History

The Tasty Bite brand was launched in 1995 with 5 all-natural,
ready-to-eat Indian entrées. Nearly 20 years later, we have over
30 Indian, Asian, and rice products that have been served to tens
of millions of hungry consumers around the world. From the
beginning, our goal has been to offer you real food with bold
flavors, without the hassle of cooking or purchasing
innumerable ingredients. Everything we do is all natural,
great tasting, and easy to prepare.

Manufacturing

In many ways, the Tasty Bite factory is not much different from
your kitchen, except larger! A wide variety of grains and
vegetables are slow-cooked in large-scale kettles with a myriad of
spices from around the world. The food is filled in unique,
multi-layered BPA-free pouches. They are then sealed and
sterilized in a retort oven to maintain freshness for over 18
months. Our process uses no artificial flavors, additives or
preservatives and ensures a high retention of the food’s original
aroma, texture, nutrients, and flavor. Our factory is located near
the city of Pune, in the rich agricultural region of Western India.

The Farm

At Tasty Bite, variety is the spice of life. We use 75 vegetables,
75 spices, 42 grains and 10 dry fruits in our delicious products.
The Tasty Bite in-house farm is 23 acres and grows some of our
ingredients for production. Most importantly, we use it as a
demonstration location to teach our community of farmers the
best practices in organic and sustainable farming.

Environment

80% of the energy used to make a pouch of Tasty Bite comes
from renewable sources. Sugarcane waste, widely available in
our region, is the primary renewable energy source. The Tasty
Bite farm also employs unique rainwater harvesting techniques
to recharge the groundwater in our area. This is of critical
importance, considering the rapid depletion of groundwater in
many parts of India and the world.

Community

In our own small way, we are doing our part to support the community around us. Our primary focus areas are education and disaster relief. We have established a scholarship fund for the children of our factory workers, donated funds to create a science lab at a local school, and offered continued support to adult literacy programs in our community.

In supporting disaster relief around the world, our Tasty Bite packaging technology proves quite effective. Each pouch is ready-to-eat and requires no refrigeration or additional water, which is invaluable in emergency situations. Tasty Bite has shipped food to victims and relief workers of many natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, the Asian Tsunami, the earthquake in Haiti, the typhoon in the Philippines, and many others.

Tasty Bite has been ranked by the Great Places to Work Institute as one of the Top 50 Indian companies to work for in 2009, 2010 and 2012.
